Assam Laksa

Today is the 1st day of f the 4th month in chinese calendar.(every 1st and 15th of every month, some chinese will have vegetarian for prayers purpose) For me, i'm having vegetarian diet for both days.I always fancy sour and spicy foods. Ever since i become an organic freak,I hardly eat the asam laksa due to health element.Luckily, there is organic asam laksa for me!!:)It is equally tasty!!!and another benefit is that organic asam laksa is vegetarian too!!!So, vegetarian diet isn't that dull after all. However i would like to introduce this famous local dishes!

Laksa (叻沙; pinyin: lèshā) is a famous Peranakan (Chinese-Malay) noodle soup from Malaysia and Singapore. The name may originate from the Sanskrit word laksha (लक्ष), meaning "many" and referring to the soup's many ingredients; the word is also the origin of the Hindi term lakh.

Laksa consists of noodles and various other condiments served in a rich spicy gravy. Usually, thick rice noodles known as laksa noodles are preferred, although thin rice vermicelli (bee hoon) can also be used, and is in fact preferred for Sarawak laksa. The exact nature of the gravy and condiments varies depending on the part of Malaysia or Singapore that the laksa originates from.

Asam Laksa is famous in Penang. The famous one is at Kek Lok Si which is situated somewhere near to a market at Kek Lok Si. Penang laksa, also known as asam laksa from the Malay for tamarind, comes from the Malaysian island of Penang. It is made with Mackerel(kan kembung) soup and its main distinguishing feature is the asam or tamarind which gives the soup a sour taste. The fish is poached and then flaked. Other ingredients that give Penang laksa its distinctive flavour include lemongrass, ginger flower, blue ginger (lengkuas) and chilli. Typical garnishes include mint, pineapple slices, thinly sliced onion and hε-ko, a thick sweet prawn ketchup.
Here is a healthy selection of junk food which is a roasted seaweeds from Korea. It is spicy flavoured. No transfat and no preservatives. It tastes nice and not greasy and no MSG too!!!! pack costs Rm8.90.It is good for kids and adults.
