Stir Fried Purple sweet potato leaves

I went to JustLife to shop for some vegetables. Then I came across this purple colour sweet potato leaves. The colour attracts me. It was the first time i saw this and eaten them. It tastes no difference from the green ones. Do you know that sweet potato leaves and sweet potato are poor people's food long time ago. Mainly due to the cheap price. However, they are not cheap now especially sweet potato as it has great health benefits! It's like a wonder foods!
The good: This food is low in Saturated Fat, and very low in Cholesterol. It is also a good source of Vitamin E (Alpha Tocopherol), Niacin and Phosphorus, and a very good source of Dietary Fiber, Vitamin A, Vitamin K, Thiamin, Riboflavin, Vitamin B6, Folate, Magnesium, Potassium and Manganese.

The bad: This food is very high in Sodium, and a large portion of the calories in this food come from sugars.

It's very simple to cook sweet potato leaves. People in Malaysia usually stir fried these with sambal belacan. However, i don't fancy belacan due to health reason.

Let me share my way of cooking!

Ingredients:
oil
sweet potato leaves
small chillies and garlics(minced them)
salt
g-powder

1.Saute minced garlic and chillies with oil. Then add in sweet potato leaves and some water.
2.Then add in salt and some G-powder to taste.
3.Cook till soft. Then it is ready to be served!

It was Kang's Birthday!

This month is really a birthday month! There are many people around me are June's baby including MYSELF:) However, it was kang's birthday yesterday. She never like to have big celebration. I baked a chocolate cake for her.The chocolate cake is really nice. So irresistible! During her birthday, we just had a simple meal. She requested a bowl of mee suah soup with 2 hard boiled eggs.
According to her, she said that meesuah with 2 eggs symbolize GOOD LUCK. Well, this is a chinese tradition. Usually, chinese will eat meesuah as it symbolize longevity and I still remember that when I was a kid, my grandmother will give me 2 red hard-boiled eggs during my birthday. I didn't really know why and it has been a custom! 2 means double and double is a good sign in chinese as good things come in pair. So, i assume that 2 eggs mean double up the happiness, longevity, wealth, health and etc.

I would like to wish her Happy Birthday and All the best things coming ahead! May all the dreams come true!:)

Fresh Kampung Eggs- Half Boiled Eggs

A friend of mine just passed me this tray of Kampung Eggs( Local terms for farm eggs) in the gym yesterday! When i walked with this tray of eggs, i attracted a lot of attractions!!hahhaha...Perhaps people reckoned that I am selling eggs in the gym.

This friend of mine just being really nice, as she wanted me to try these fresh eggs by making half boiled eggs. She got these freshly from farm and it is cheaper to get directly from the farm. This tray of eggs are really fresh as i can see feathers in the tray! She keeps telling me that these eggs are nice to eat and so and so....So i just nodded and promised her i will try...So i have tried it today....
Here is the outcome. Kampung eggs are tiny. I made 2 eggs. I haven't had any Kampung eggs for the past 7 years i guess...coz...for me, i feel quite reluctant to take this as i feel like im eating a live! Just wonder how am I going to finish 30 eggs?

Half-boiled eggs is a really famous breakfast in Malaysia. You can get it at Kopitiam(Coffee shop),Mamak stall mostly. People eat it with soysauce and pepper. some people may use it as a dip for toast! In Malaysia, kaya and butter toast is really famous. When you come to Malaysia, remember to try these! A must try eating place in Malaysia for these kinda of foods is Old Town White Coffee restaurant. It's a local famous restaurant for local dishes! When my Friends from Hong Kong paid a visit, they went there to try the foods and they like it very much! place of

When I was a little kid, I used to have half boiled eggs and milo every morning before going to school. Nah, when i was a kid, I used to keep eggs under my bed and hopefully they turned into chicks! and i may have new friends! Funny right?

I would like to thanks Luna for her kindness!

How to make half boiled-eggs? Very easy!

Just boil some water which is enough to cover the whole egg.
Then off the fire and place the eggs in the boiling water for 2 minutes.
Then you can serve with some soy sauce and some pepper!
Try as a dip for your toast too!

Pasar Malam(Night Market) Culture

Yesterday i went to Taman Maluri Pasar malam with my friend. So, for those who are not Malaysian may not know what is pasar malam. Basically, Pasar malam is a night market and it's like Malaysian culture to go to pasar malam( night market). Why? Because it is suitable for all age group! Pasar malam is a street consists of local foods stalls, clothing, fres and raw foods like fish, vege, and chicken. Besides, a lot of fruits stalls and the fruits are cheap!

I really like to go to pasar malam as I can get some childhood foods and also Various of fresh fruits. Above are some of the local foods you can get from pasar malam. There are corn custard, sweet potato balls, pandan roll buns with redbean paste and sweet soft beancurd( Tau Fu Far-local name) and i find this tau fu far is silken soft!!!I found a good place for tau fu far at last!:)
I had all these foods and AGAIN! what a little reminiscence!

Nah, remember! when you travel to Malaysia, PASAR MALAM is a must visit PLACE!

Wakame Tofu Salada

Cooking without a recipe is the best way as you may create something new and nice to eat!:) this is one of em...I love to eat variety of foods and in different colours at the same time. So,this is the reason I like to eat salads.Let me define the colours! Red-beetroot, green-cos lettuce, orange-tomato, white-tofu, and brown- lotus fruits. The colours are awesome!
Firstly, i steamed the organic tofu with wakame and some wolfberries for 8 minutes. Wakame seaweed is amazing! There are a lot of goodness for health. Let me name a few!

1. Extremely low in calories with only about five calories per serving with minimal fat.

2. Although high in sodium, it’s a good source of other minerals including magnesium, iodine, calcium, and iron.

3. It’s also high in vitamins A, C, E, and K as well as folate and riboflavin.

4. It’s also a source of lignans which are thought to play a role in preventing certain types of cancer, particularly breast cancer.

5. In fact, a study published in the journal Cancer Science in 2005 demonstrated that wakame seaweed effectively suppressed growth of breast tumors in rats.

6. Another area of interest relating to the health benefits of wakame seaweed is its role in promoting WEIGHT LOSS. A study carried out in Japan and presented at the national meeting of the American Chemical Society in September of 2008 showed that an ingredient found in this vegetable known as fucoxanthin promoted weight loss in rate by increasing the rate at which fat is broken down. The rats who received the wakame seaweed lost up to ten percent of their body weight. Although studies have yet to be conducted on humans, researchers are optimistic.

I would like to recommend this! 3 treasure which contains Brewer's yeast, raw wheat germ, soybean lecithin, black sesame, nori seaweed, and white sesame. It's a 100 % natural product. It can be added into soup, porridge, salad, fruit juices and can be toppings in any foods you like. This is a health booster! It's cheap and can be used for ages. Just a tablespoon will do!
So, here is the mixtures of vegetables I used in this salada. It contains 1 tomato, 1 cucumber, 1 lotus fruit, 1 beetroot and a few leaves of cos lettuce. All cut into dices.

The dressing will be Japanese dressing. You can you any dressings you want. It's really flexible!

Finally, add in the steamed wakame and tofu into your salad and add in some almond nibs and the dressing!

It's so refreshing dish!

Hope you like it!Have a nice day!
